Hi all - IrfanView is opening all of my portrait orientation Nikon D300 RAW NEF files in landscape format. I have the auto-rotate image according to exif info option checked and have no issues with rotation not working properly when viewing RAW NEF files taken with my Nikon D70 - any clues? (additionally the D300 thumbnails appear in the wrong orientation in Windows XP explorer whereas the D70 thumbnails are OK, however in IrfanView thumbnails view the D300 thumbnails are rotated OK) Thanks for your help. Open the EXIF information for one of the images (type I,E or use the menu) and look at the orientation tag. If it says Top Left then it will not be rotated by the Auto-rotate feature. Be very, very careful if you want to avoid the orientation tag being reset to this value by IrfanView 4.10. First if you Save the image you must uncheck the Reset EXIF orientation in the JPEG save options.

Second do not use JPEG lossless rotations at present. They appear to reset this flag even when the above Reset orientation option is unchecked. I don't know if this is a bug or a well intentioned feature gone wrong. Hi again Yes, the 'Auto-rotate image according to EXIF info' option is on.
I suspect that IrfanView doesn't support the D300 EXIF info yet, but would like someone to confirm that. Interested, I checked the EXIF info for my D70 portrait NEFs and it's different to both the D300 and the D200 - the width and length appear relevant with the D70?

Irfanview For Windows 10
All PlugIns will work: not all PlugIns are ported (yet) to 64-bit (like OCR) and some 32-bit PlugIns must be still used in the 64-bit version, some with limitations (see the 'Plugins32' folder). Some old 32-bit PlugIns (like RIOT and Adobe 8BF PlugIn) work only in compatilibilty mode in IrfanView-64. Command line options for scanning (/scan etc.) work only in 32-bit (because no 64-bit TWAIN drivers) Notes:. You can install both versions on the same system, just use different folders.
